Count Chemicals not Calories

Diet not working for you? Feel like your head is foggy? Not losing the weight you thought you would by cutting back on calories and exercising more? Have you thought there has to be a better more effective way to have more energy, lose a couple of inches, and lose the brain fog? There is! Go back to eating foods that Mother Nature intended you to eat.

Stop shopping the center aisles in the grocery store. Stay away from the pre-packaged meals, frozen pizzas, soda/flavored and diet drinks, and fast foods. General rule: Try to avoid items that have more than 5 ingredients on the label. Start cooking from scratch. You think it’s hard??? Try these tips:

  • Bake a chicken breast and steam or bake a couple of veggies as a side.

  • Use a crock pot… throw your protein, veggies, and some spices in before you leave for work in the morning and you will have a nice nourishing meal awaiting you upon your return home.

  • Pre-cook your meals on the weekend (or your day off). Package them and freeze for the week. Just re-heat when ready to serve.

  • Always have a "snack" handy in your car, purse, or at work... nuts, seeds, veggies and fruit are all good choices to stave off hunger pangs.

  • Don't forget to stay hydrated! Dehydration can actually trick you into thinking you are hungry. Plain old water will do the trick. Don't like plain water? Add a slice of lemon, lime, orange, or cucumber to quench your thirst.

Just getting back to the basics will help clear your mind, ease inflammation in your body, and help trim a few inches from your midsection. Another “side effect”, you may save a few pennies, too! Try it for a couple of weeks and see if avoiding the pre-packaged meals, flavored beverages, and fast food restaurants causes some positive changes in your life.
